Recruitment Awards and Your Employer Brand

One of the biggest trends in recruitment predicted for this year are methods on how to tackle the talent crisis. We have very quickly seen a 360-degree turn; from a candidate rich market to a candidate shortage landscape.  As increasing numbers of companies are now hiring and fewer people are looking for work, how are companies are going to stand out from their competitors and attract the best people for their organisations?

In addition to trending towards flexible working employment practices, organisations are also becoming more transparent, more open about their culture and they are looking at improving their employer brand to both to its existing workforce and potential recruits.

Sites like glassdoor.com (a bit like a trip advisor for employers) are growing in popularity as rising numbers of candidates start to take a greater interest in understanding what goes on behind the scenes of future employers.  Existing and previous employees are now more vocal than ever before, especially with the advances in social media. In some extreme cases, they can make or break your brand or recruitment proposition.

There are many ways you can improve your own employer brand and this will inevitably start from within.  However, if you have got the basics nailed and you are looking to promote the good intentions your organisation has to offer, then why not think about getting some badges to prove it?  Not only will it give you greater transparency on the good your organisation does and promote your organisation as an employer of choice, but it may also tempt that fantastic applicant to apply who otherwise may not.

There are lots of recruitment and employer awards you can enter.  We have tried to split the list below into Recruiter Awards (Awards for recruitment processes etc) HR & Recruiter Awards (Awards recognising HR professionals and Recruiters) and Employer Awards (Awards for being a great employer).

Many of the awards are just completing their 2014/5 year and so the deadlines for 2015/16 have not been published yet. But what better time for you to start to plan your employer brand / PR campaign for the next 12-24 months?  Even if you do not enter this year (or even next year) understanding the criteria for some of the awards may help you plan better recruitment strategies and processes and help you win the war on talent.

Please feel free to let us know of any additional ones by emailing and we will add them to the list.
